問：Both 'a great deal' and 'much' can be adverbs, what is the difference between 

    them?

答：Without modifier, 'much' is usually used in questions and negative sentences

    while 'a great deal' is used in positive sentences.

Example: 1. I don't like them much.

        2. I like them a great deal.

        3. A: 'Do you walk much?'   B: 'Yes, a great deal.'
