A Few Words…
It is, indeed, always a mental struggling when we have to pick
books for teenagers .It must ,definitely be appealing, motivational
at the same time humorous and practical. By practical I meant,
easy to read and to interpret.

By appealing, I mean a story that really portraits their own age and what they are going through during the teen years – behaviours and
attitudes - a sort of self – reflection.

For Second Language Learners, it must be
all of the above yet an excellent learning approach. Therefore,  the book I recommend for this month is “The Diary of a Wimpy kid” by Jeff Kinney.

It is a fiction novel written in format of a journal (by the way, journals are more appropriate for boys while diaries are for girls) and illustrated given the book a “cartoon” feeling. The pictures only add to the humor and the journal format makes for an easy read.

The witty main character makes the book hilarious and ageless. Since its first release in 2007, the success of “THE DIARY OF A WIMPY KID” became a franchise with nine sequels and a movie adaptation in 2010.

The book is about a boy named GREG HEFFLEY and his struggles in middle school. His character is very wimpy, sometimes with bad temper, but very funny;)

I’m sure you’ll enjoy Greg’s “diary” and laugh a lot!

Happy reading!
